RMQSI Answers ForumCategory: Handbooks and StandardsCircuit Breakers in FMECA

Hello,
I have a question about FMECA (1629A) and Cricuit Creakers.
Circuit breakers have the following Failure modes (normalized/ FMD-93):
1) Opens without stimuli 0,51
2) Does not open 0,49
and failure rate 1,45 FPMH (summary NPRD-2011)
We analyze TV – our mission is to watch TV.
We have circuit breaker on the cable (hypothetically) which delivers current to the TV.

In FMECA failure mode 1) has critical impact on our mission but what about the second failure mode? When there is no electrical discharge (beta 0,9) there is no effect but if there is a discharge (beta 0,1) effect is critical.

FM FR Beta Effect
1) Opens without stimuli 0,51 1,45 1 Critical
2) Does not open ………..0,49 1,45 0,1 Critical
……………………………………………0,9 no effect
Is this correct?
Regards,
MM
