Equation 4 of Table 6.2.1-3 (Reliability Toolkit) assesses the effective failure rate of an m-of-n Standby system. Looking at this approach I see that the derivation appears to assume the failure rate of the dormant component is the same as for the active component, and the integration is performed over all time (0 to infinity) instead of for 0 to time (t).

Is there another solution that accounts for a dormancy factor (d), and for mission duration (t)? How about including duty cycling of the active component?
